Dr. Patrick B’s Story

I have a patient who had an abnormal ultrasound suggestive of liver cancer. A prior authorization for an obviously necessary’s MRI to clarify. His scheduling and approval took over four weeks and payment coverage is still in doubt as we’ve received a post procedure denial for “technical reasons.” All the while he and his family were convinced he had metastatic cancer with months to live despite my reassurance that the ultrasound could be inaccurate.
