I have a transgender patient who has completed 2 of 3 planned surgeries for a phalloplasty, but the 3rd and final procedure has been hung up in the approval process for weeks and the original surgeon is threatening to cancel his planned procedure. Regardless of your thoughts on any gender transition surgery, can you imagine having 2/3 of a surgical procedure done and then being told your surgery was not going to be approved to finish the job?
